Quality Assurance

BSX has several Quality Assurance Personnel (qualified in accordance with Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board Technical Paper-18 (DDESB TP-18). Many of our team members have 30-40+ years in the UXO industry.

  • Conduct pre-audit inspections in accordance with DOD Directives
  • Conduct oversight of projects and programs to assist with complying with CERCLA or ORC requirements
  • Verify field staff is qualified in accordance with DDESB TP-18, OSHA, and DOT.
  • Ensure projects directed by Explosive Safety Plans, or Explosive Safety Submissions are compliant.
  • Provide daily, interim, and Quality Assurance Surveillance Reports (QASR) for Remedial Project Managers

Operational Range Clearance

BSX has a large pool of current and former employees to perform operational range clearances. We can scale the force to meet timeline requirements for projects and programs, including:

  • Surface and Subsurface UXO Clearances
  • Vegetation Reduction
  • Target Removal and Installation
  • Construction Support
  • Anomaly Avoidance
  • Mechanized Removal of UXO or anomalies
  • Berm Mining
  • Range Expansions

Range Residue Removal (R3)

BSX has had several large IDIQ contracts with the U.S. Navy to perform R3 services to maintain the range holding areas and process the Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) to Material Documented as Safe (MDAS). BSX has several unique custom equipment items to assist performing the process which makes it safety and more economical than other companies. BSX has the following equipment and capabilities:

  • Bomb Crushers available (used for processing Mk-76 and BDU-33)
  • Four Hydraulic Shears to process items like mortars, projectiles, and full scale bombs. Shears can also be used to cut up target debris, reducing volume for shipping and making recycling more efficient
  • Excavator mounted magnet to assist with handling MPPEH
  • Two Hydraulically operated sorting belts and shaker tables with cross belt magnets
